We love our volunteers! SPARK has a few requirements that need to be met in order to be a volunteer. Below is the quick summary of what we need from you and then further down is a detailed letter from our PTO giving more details.
STEPS TO TAKE TO VOLUNTEER:
1. Sign this Volunteer Release Form
2. Copy your photo ID
3. View this video
4. Sign this form after viewing the video.
Turn all papers into Mr. Waites in the front office. And now, go have fun with your kids!
Here is the letter from our PTO with more details:
Dear Parents:
Atlanta Public Schools (APS)
has procedures in place for volunteers. It may seem tedious, but it’s for
the safety of our kids, which is of utmost importance to us all. I need
to ensure that you and your classroom volunteers are fully aware of the process
and policies.
All volunteers must complete
the Volunteer Release forms, send in a copy of their picture ID, and view a
video on being a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse. Once the
video is viewed, I need to know, and document, that it has been viewed.
This can be completed via email, text, or by printing and forwarding the
attestation. If a Volunteer Release form and picture ID were turned in
during the 2012 or 2013 school year, please let me know. If the ID has
not expired, and we have it on file, I can use that ID copy, but I will still
need the form and attestation that the video has been viewed.
Sometimes, there is
confusion about who this process applies to. This applies to Mystery
Readers, the PTO, Field Trip Chaperones, and anyone volunteering.
All SPARK volunteers are considered to be at least, Level 2 Volunteers.
Level 2 volunteers have contact with the children, but in the presence of
staff, or with other Level 2 volunteers. To make accessing this
